Accidents happen in the NFL. Someone could get injured and that someone very well could be a crucial piece on the team like Justin Houston or Jeremy Maclin.
While some of these scenarios seem almost too real (number two, for example), certain players can step up and make an impact. If the Chiefs are loaded with depth on the roster and don’t rely too much on the same two or three players, then losing a key piece on the team won’t be nearly as bad.
Take the Broncos last year for instance. When their defensive stars were injured, the backups stepped in quite nicely, and the team went on to win the Super Bowl.
Now I’m not saying that the Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl bound this year, but you never know. They’re certainly close to contending for one and 2016 could be the year. They just have to avoid getting caught up in any of these worst case scenarios.
