Mizzou football added transfer and former KSU Wildcats safety Kaleb Prewett.

Mizzou football, in an interesting move, has approved the transfer of former KSU Wildcats safety Kaleb Prewett.

This news arrived via Pete Scantlebury and Gabe DeArmond of PowerMizzou.com who received confirmation from Prewett’s high school football coach Kelly Donohoe.

Prewett played under Donohoe while attending Blue Springs located in the Missouri town also named Blue Springs.

Prewett also sent the following tweet indicating his intentions to join Mizzou football.

As a result, Prewett was considered both a KSU Wildcats and Mizzou football target coming out of high school in 2014.

After choosing the KSU Wildcats, Prewett played under Bill Snyder until this February, when he was dismissed following an underage drinking arrest the month prior.

This dismissal was apparently due to Big 12 rules which apparently has less strict guidelines about domestic violence than underage drinking…in college.

After being spurned by the self-righteous KSU Wildcats, Prewett decided to transfer to a Mizzou football program with a little bit less self-esteem at the moment.

Unfortunately for Mizzou football, Prewett will have to sit out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Donohoe told Blake Toppmeyer of the Columbia Daily Tribune that Prewett plans on enrolling at Missouri during the summer.

As a member of the KSU Wildcats, Prewett recorded 49 tackles in eight starts.

In my view, the KSU Wildcats shot themselves in the foot when they dismissed Prewett.

I am not certain what Kansas State proved by grandstanding against underage drinking.

The only tangible result appears to be a loss of talent in their secondary and a complete failure to convince any underage drinking college student that they should wait until 21 to drink in college.

The decision to dismiss Prewett will certainly not help the KSU Wildcats passing defense, which ranked 123rd in the nation last season.

Luckily for the KSU Wildcats, Mizzou football schedules through 2020 do not include Kansas State, according to FBSSchedules.com.

As a result, the KSU Wildcats will not have to face the reminder of their mistake, in the regular season at least.

In the Wildcats defense, Prewett is a solid contributor but not a make or break player, so KSU may recover.

In addition, Mizzou will not reap the benefits of Prewett’s production until the 2017 season.

It will be interesting to watch Prewett in 2017, when his play will allow the KSU Wildcats to say definitively if dropping Prewett was the right move.
