KC Chiefs: Is De’Anthony Thomas Done?
The KC Chiefs made a pick in this year’s draft that really only has shot at a position. It may belong to De’Anthony Thomas.
With the 2016 Draft over, it’s time to look forward to the season. With the Draft of former Oklahoma State wide receiver Tyreek Hill, De’Anthony Thomas’ roster spot may be up for grabs.
At the end of 2015, De’Anthony Thomas was put on the reserve/non-football illness list. It had a lot of fans shaking their head. Thomas was such a dynamic player when on the field, but throughout his time with the Chiefs, Thomas has been injured so many times that it is hard to count on him.
After the season was over, reports came out that their were possible trade talks with San Francisco for Thomas. This could be true because the new 49ers’ coach Chip Kelly coached De’Anthony Thomas during his time at Oregon. The season is coming up soon, and there have been no new developments on the subject.
It may be a good time to give up on the project. De’Anthony Thomas is a weapon on the field, but his spot could be used for a receiver that can produce on a regular basis.

Tyreek Hill is a wide-receiver who went to Oklahoma State before being dropped by the program following domestic violence charges. He went on to play for Division-II school University of Western Alabama, before being drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round of this year’s draft.
From a speed perspective, they are very close but Hill is a little bigger which could help with his durability. He may not be able produce as a number two receiver, but he can make an immediate impact as an punt/ kick returner. If he is able to do that, and stay healthy, then why keep De’Anthony Thomas?
A possible trade could be in the cards, maybe not with San Francisco, but with a team that could give the KC Chiefs a player that could make an immediate impact.
A good trade would be for a possible safety that could come in and compete for the starting job, or possibly another offensive linemen that could add some depth at a crucial position. At this point there is no place on the team for De’Anthony Thomas.

Overall he is a good player, and is a threat when he is on the field, but overall he has not done a lot for the KC Chiefs, other than a few good punt returns. It would be in the Chiefs best interest to send him somewhere else and maybe get a player that can have a bigger impact on a every down basis.
I am not saying that De’Anthony Thomas does not have the talent, but the question is not IF he gets injured what will the Chiefs do, its WHEN Thomas gets injured what will they do?
