Mizzou Football: Kentrell Brothers Goes To Vikings
By Scott Dillon
This is the first time in a while that the Mizzou Football team hasn’t had a top draft pick. Kentrell Brothers may be a steal though.
Kentrell Brothers is undersized for an inside linebacker, but he has still turned into a tackling machine in his career with the Mizzou Football team.
In his career at Mizzou, he has amassed a total of 357 tackles with 152 of those coming just this past season.

He’s got good hands for a linebacker as he’s also snagged five interceptions in his career. He hasn’t recovered any fumbles, but he has forced four fumbles. Three of those came during the 2014 season.
It’s a shame that Brothers’ excellent season for the Tigers was overshadowed by a series of scandals that plagued the Mizzou Football program last season. A student strike, vehement and crazy teachers, a quarterback that can’t get right, and a coach stepping down all take away from what Brothers did behind the scenes.
The fact that he was able to keep his head down in the midst of all of that drama and focus on sniffing out tackles shows that he may be mature beyond his years and won’t get caught up in the drama that so often affects NFL players.
Here’s what the NFL had to say about this prospect out of Mizzou:
"Really fun to watch on tape with many of the same play traits that made TCU’s Paul Dawson so productive last season. Brothers is a decisive, rhythm linebacker whose understanding of space and ability to improve his tackle positioning at the point of attack should make him a consistently productive inside linebacker in the pros. While Brothers will lack the speed and overall athleticism that some teams covet, it would be a huge mistake to value athleticism over instincts and production when evaluating Brothers."
The Minnesota Vikings may have gotten a steal of a pick by taking Brothers in the fifth round. He’s undersized so he may be hungry to disprove his doubters. Having a defensive player out there playing angry, while at the same time being able to portray himself as a professional, could yield huge results for the .
