Best Seventh Round Draft Picks of All-Time – Number 9: Gloster Richardson (Chiefs wide receiver from 1965-1970)

While the KC Chiefs drafted Gloster Richardson in the seventh round of the 1965 AFL Draft, he didn’t end up actually playing in the AFL until the 1967 season. He still had a nice four seasons in Kansas City though.

Richardson ended his Chiefs career with 62 receptions for 1,358 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also played for the Cowboys and the Browns before being out of the league after the 1974 season.

It is worth noting, however, that when the AFL and NFL were separate leagues, the rounds were much shorter. Richardson was actually the 50th overall pick in the 1965 AFL Draft, which would make him a second-round draft choice in today’s NFL standards.

Richardson was a member of the Super Bowl IV Championship team and also led the AFL in receiving touchdowns in 1968 with eight. He might not be the biggest name out there, but Richardson was a pretty good receiver for the KC Chiefs during their glory years.
