The KC Chiefs have added a wide receiver in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and they’ve done so in the form of Demarcus Robinson out of Florida.

The Chiefs have had three picks in the fourth round so far, and they’re using their picks wisely. They’ve addressed the offensive guard position, added another cornerback, and now they’ve addressed the wide receiver position.

Demarcus Robinson, a junior at the University of Florida, ended his three-year college career with 105 receptions for 1,353 yards and nine touchdowns. He has the ability to play outside or in the slot, which is likely what drew the Kansas City Chiefs to the young receiver.

Some obvious knocks on Robinson just glancing at his scouting reports are that he’s a bit of a troublemaker. Lance Zierlein of NFL.com notes that Robinson was suspended on four separate occasions during his three-year stint at Florida. We all know how Andy Reid works well with trouble makers, so maybe this is a match made in heaven.

Keep in mind that just a year ago (one year to the day as a matter of fact), the Chiefs drafted Marcus Peters, who had his own problems while at Washington. Being a troublemaker is fixable, so hopefully Robinson can figure it out and come in and contribute.

With all of that said, the KC Chiefs needed to add another wide receiver. Jeremy Maclin is the unquestioned number one starter, but the other names on the team are Chris Conley, Rod Streater, Mike Williams, and Albert Wilson. The need at receiver was definitely there and perhaps Robinson is the missing link on the receiver depth chart.

"Immensely talented with elite combination of straight-line speed and quick-twitch athleticism. Robinson flashes game-breaking potential as a deep ball threat and after the catch, but was suspended by two different coaches over a three-year period. While Robinson is likely to test off the charts and has the talent to be a top four receiver in this draft, it is hard to imagine his draft slot equaling his talent due to his character concerns. – Zierlein’s “Bottom Line” on Demarcus Robinson"

CBS Sports points out that Robinson’s performance after the catch is one of the most impressive things about him. He averaged 15.3 yards per reception during his sophomore season in 2014, which is the kind of production that the Kansas City Chiefs could really use.

While on paper, the suspensions could seem worrisome, let’s give Demarcus Robinson an opportunity to prove himself. We saw how Marcus Peters turned things around and became the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Perhaps Robinson could be the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

You never know.
