Today’s KC Chiefs news is focused on a day that is near and dear to many fans’ hearts: NFL draft day.

It’s that magical time of year again for teams like the KC Chiefs. Every time the draft rolls around there is a little bit of hope that maybe this year will be the year they finally find THE guy to put them over the top.

Last year, the Chiefs selected Marcus Peters with their first-round pick and it’s one of the reasons they were able to win their first playoff game in two decades.

They took a risk on a player with a history of character issues and he rewarded them with defensive rookie of the year honors while leading the league in interceptions.

They also made a great pick in the second round when they selected center Mitch Morse. Morse missed both of the Chiefs’ playoff games but was especially good at helping open up running lanes for the Chiefs.

The jury is still out on how the rest of their draft will pan out, but it seems they may have some good late-round picks. Both Ramik Wilson and D.J. Alexander look like promising young players and could offer some great depth for the Chiefs.

This year feels a little bit different for the Chiefs and their fans. No longer does it seem like they have to find a magical player to elevate them to the next level.

They have a ton of depth and are getting back one of the best offensive weapons in the game in Jamaal Charles. Justin Houston is also recovering rapidly from his off-season injury and the Chiefs defense should have solid depth.

The Chiefs seem like a very complete team entering this years draft and can be very selective. They may opt to go with best player available to allow room for future success. They could really use a strong cornerback to pair up with Marcus Peters.

It also wouldn’t hurt for them to have a solid number two receiver to pair up with Jeremy Maclin. Personally, I think Rod Streater was a sneaky good pickup this off-season. With Jeremy Maclin and Travis Kelce drawing coverage, he could be a huge player for the Chiefs this season.

Well what do you think KC Chiefs fans? Who do you want the Chiefs’ to take in the first round? How do you feel about the loss of a third-round pick? Are the Chiefs a complete team already? Let me know your thoughts in the comments’ section below.
