With the 2016 NFL Draft coming up quickly, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to fill holes on their rosters. One position that can usually always improve is along the offensive line.

The offensive line has been an area of concern for the KC Chiefs

over the years. Fans were hoping that Eric Fisher being drafted number one overall three years ago would be the answer at the left tackle position, but is it time to start looking ahead? If so, Le’Raven Clark of Texas Tech has the size and skill to make a early splash in the NFL.

Le’Raven Clark is an offensive tackle out of Texas Tech. During his time with the Red Raiders, he played right guard his freshman year and spent the last three years at left tackle (51 games to be exact).

Texas Tech runs a pass first offense, which means that Clark has good pass protection skills that should translate very well to the NFL.

According to CBS Sports, he has the size of a starting NFL lineman and had the longest reach of all the line men at the Senior Bowl.  Clark also showed the agility necessary to block incoming pass rushers, and showed the ability to get to the next level in run blocking situations.

Due to his flexibility and frame, Clark shows the promise to be an immediate contributor to any football team, but he will need a little bit of coaching due to the fact that he had to retreat after the snap. This will have to be changed in order for him to become an NFL starter.

According to NFL.com, Le’Raven Clark has below average core strength and has a tendency to let his weight go past his knees and will get caught leaning from time to time. He has quick feet, which makes him agile, but he lacks the footwork to be effective early.

The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t always been satisfied with the play of former first overall pick Eric Fisher, but as of late he played some of his best football at the left tackle position. With the signing of Mitchell Schwartz, it would be interesting to see Kansas City add another offensive linemen to the mix, specifically at the tackle position.

It’s also worth noting that Fisher is in the last year of his deal, which could be the clincher on if the Chiefs add another tackle early on or not.

As history has shown, John Dorsey and the Chiefs will draft for the best player in the draft. While Le’Raven Clark may not be the best player in the first round, if he is still on the table in the second round, I could see him coming to Kansas City and making an immediate impact.
