KC Chiefs: Ten Best Sixth Round Draft Picks of All-Time
Best Sixth Round Selections of All-Time – Number 1: Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (Chiefs offensive guard from 2014-Present)
Number one on this list is current Chiefs right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who the team landed with the 200th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. “LDT” as many Chiefs fans refer to him as was fascinating right from the jump, as he played his college football at McGill and was going to school to be a doctor.
While LDT hasn’t been a world-class player, he’s been a part of the Chiefs offensive line since the 2015 season and started for them at the position in Super Bowl LIV. The fact that the Chiefs got that kind of value out of the 200th overall draft pick is pretty impressive and makes LDT the best sixth-round pick in the franchise’s history.
It just shows that good talent could be waiting for teams, even in round six.
The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t had the best luck in the sixth round of the NFL Draft, but most teams tend to strike out that deep in the draft.
Teams these days get so caught up in trying to find the next Tom Brady in the draft; The late-round guy who’s going to come in and become a future Hall of Famer.

Well, that’s extremely rare. The Chiefs have yet to have a single Pro Bowl player come out of the sixth round and this list was pretty much based on their tenure in Kansas City and if their stats were decent enough to merit being a late-round pick.
Robb Thomas had the number one spot for a while because even though he was only a Chief for three years, he had over 1,000 yards receiving with Kansas City and spent a decade in the NFL.
That’s pretty impressive for a guy that was taken 143rd overall in the draft, but Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has done enough since this article was published to become the best sixth-round pick ever. The biggest thing I could point to for that reasoning is that the guy started in a Super Bowl.
