Today’s KC Chiefs news is focused on the speedy recovery of linebacker Justin Houston. It appears he’ll be suiting up this season.

A few weeks ago, Chiefs’ fans received what appeared to be devastating news about Justin Houston. The star outside linebacker had received ACL surgery in February and there was a chance he could miss the entire season.

With a recovery time of 6-12 months on average for an ACL injury, it wouldn’t have been surprising if the Chiefs had to do without Houston this season. Luckily for them, it appears that he is a fast healer and may be ready to play this season.

Chiefs’ general manager John Dorsey had the following to say about the Chiefs prominent pass rusher:

"“I’m not a medical expert, but I can tell you Justin Houston will be playing this season,”"

John Dorsey wouldn’t say whether or not Chiefs’ fans could rely on Houston being ready for season’s start, but it does sound like he’ll be able to play at least a portion of the season.

While it now appears he’ll be able to play football this season, the question will be ‘how effective will he be?’

The KC Chiefs are simply a better team when Justin Houston is healthy and on the football field. Who knows how long it will take him to regain his explosiveness off the line of scrimmage that allows him to get to the quarterback.

The Chiefs did a better job at forcing turnovers last season when Justin Houston was on the field. He may not have had the same sack totals that he had a year prior, but his pressure in the pocket helped create some bad decisions that landed in the hands of Marcus Peters among others.

Well what do you think KC Chiefs’ fans? How many games is Justin Houston going to miss in 2016? Will he miss any time at all? Let me know your thoughts in the comments’ section below.
