KC Royals fans who are opposed to Joakim Soria pitching the eighth inning rejoice! Ned Yost has said he’ll mix things up in today’s KC Royals news.

Joakim Soria has been bearing the brunt of of the blame from KC Royals fans ever since his first outing back. There are several reasons why it’s entirely too early to begin proclaiming things like “let’s cut him” (mainly because baseball doesn’t typically work that way).

It’s also way to soon, and by soon I mean it should be never, for fans to be booing Soria. That team, who seems like it shares it’s heartbeat with the fans, isn’t likely to take kindly to their ‘brothers’ being booed. Let’s not become ‘those fans’.

In spite of the fact that Joakim Soria is experiencing some ‘bad luck’, Ned Yost has said that he’s going to mix and match Soria and Herrera. Fans who’ve been lobbying for a switch to the seventh inning, another inning in baseball in which a lead can be lost, can bust out the champagne.

Jeffrey Flanagan, who covers the Royals for MLB.com, tweeted the following before yesterday’s game:

In true Ned Yost form, Joakim Soria came out to pitch the eighth inning of the game. I don’t often say this, but that a boy Ned! Soria had a scoreless appearance though he did give up a couple of hard hit balls (that BABIP has to even out somehow).

Ned Yost also made a prediction about Soria based on a ‘mechanical flaw’ that they’ve identified and ‘fixed’.

Whether you love Soria or hate him, let’s just hope Ned’s right!

The Royals are 9-5 on the young season and have a chance to take the first series of the year against the Detroit Tigers later tonight. Edinson Volquez will likely have to be on top of his game as he has a 6.21 career ERA against the Tigers.

It helps that Mike Pelfrey has also been hit by the Royals. If you’re into daily fantasy sports, a lineup full of Royals and Tigers may not be a bad idea.

Well what do you think KC Royals’ fans? Should Kelvin Herrera own the eighth inning? Is Joakim Soria going to earn the respect of KC Royals’ fans again? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.
