KC Royals Vs Detroit Tigers Series Preview
By Scott Dillon
The Royals are going to need to limit the walks and heat up the bats to take this series against the Tigers.
The Royals can do themselves a big favor in this early season in-division match-up by winning the series. A sweep would be great, but the Royals will be doing well to take two of three.
The Royals are batting .252 on the young season and Eric Hosmer and Omar Infante are leading the batting average charge (who ever thought they would read that about Omar Infante?). They have nine home runs, 43 runs scored, and have struck out 88 times (which is high for them).

The Tigers are batting .284 on the season. They’re lineup is stacked from top to bottom and the Royals’ pitchers are likely to need help from the offense to earn some wins. The Tigers have 58 runs on the season and have hit 17 home runs.
The Tigers are also doing much better when there are runners in scoring position. They are batting .250 with runners in scoring position compared to a .213 mark by the Royals. The Royals will need their hitting to be more timely to come away with some victories.
The Royals do stack up against the Tigers pitching more favorably. They have a 2.89 ERA to start the year compared to a 3.52 mark by the Tigers. Each team owns six quality starts.

The key to this series for the Royals will be finding their bats when there is a runner on second or third base. They’ve got to do a better job at getting the runners home if they want to repeat (it would also help Joakim Soria out as he’s getting hammered with blame).
What do you think KC Royals’ fans? What are your keys to victory against the Tigers? What are your predictions for the series? Are the Royals set to bust out of their slump and display more of the frenzied hitting they showed in the last game against the Astros? Let me know your thoughts in the comments’ section below.
