The Kansas City Chiefs have always been known for their incredible defense. Could they add to it by drafting Kamalei Correa in the 2016 NFL Draft?

The KC Chiefs have some pretty talented guys on the defensive side of the ball. Could the team decide to add more talented bodies to the fold in the 2016 NFL Draft? If so, then Kamalei Correa out of Boise State could hear his name called by the Chiefs come draft weekend.

Correa, a junior at Boise State, is forgoing his senior season to enter the draft. He had 19 sacks in three seasons, including a whopping 12 in 2014. He also had 107 tackles during his time with the Broncos.

Correa spent time at both defensive end and at defensive tackle, making him a versatile player that NFL teams will definitely want to snatch up. CBS Sports even has Correa listed as an outside linebacker, adding to the list of positions he can play.

The most notable part about Correa’s combine results is how fast he is. It’s rare for a defensive end to have a 40 time like that, but it just shows that Correa has that burst that could be missing from the Chiefs’ roster.

Correa is a projected second round pick by the analysts at CBS Sports, which would be when the Chiefs would likely be looking to upgrade their defensive core. If Correa is still on the board when the Chiefs go to pick in round two, he very well could be the next member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

What Correa brings defenses is his ability in the pass rush. He had 19 total sacks during his college days and those 12 sacks two seasons ago will be what catches a lot of recruiters’ eyes.

The ability to plug Correa in just about anywhere on the defense and his explosive burst off the line is why he’s an attractive pick to Kansas City. This is a team that relies on their defense to win them games and Correa could be the difference maker for whatever team scoops him up.

His weaknesses are that he appears to be too small to play at the defensive end position in the NFL, according to CBS Sports. He also isn’t always the best at covering down the field.
