KC Chiefs news is about the NFL releasing the 2016 preseason schedule. What four opponents will the Chiefs see during the preseason this summer?

The NFL offseason can be a bit of a bore. Luckily, there are announcements in between the big offseason events (like free agency and the draft) that get everyone pumped up for football. The recent announcement was the schedule for the 2016 preseason.

The Kansas City Chiefs will kick off their preseason against the Seattle Seahawks at Arrowhead Stadium. They’ll then have road games in Los Angeles to face the Rams and in Chicago to square off against the Bears. The Chiefs will wrap up their preseason with a home game against the Green Bay Packers at the lovely confines of Arrowhead.

While no one necessarily jumps up and down about the preseason, there are some things worth noting about these games. The most notable being that the Chiefs will get to travel to Los Angeles in this preseason, in what will be one of their first games back in California.

  • The Chiefs played the Seahawks last year at Arrowhead, so that one being repeated is a bit surprising. If anything, it might have made more sense to have the Chiefs play in Seattle.

This preseason, Kansas City will host the Packers, who defeated the Chiefs 38-28 at Lambeau Field in Week 3 last year.

I’m one of the few people who is a nerd when it comes to preseason football. I like watching the backups and third stringers play and show if they’re NFL ready or not. Call me a football nerd, I don’t care.

Interestingly enough, the KC Chiefs will only face NFC teams in the preseason this year. While that doesn’t really mean anything, it’s still kind of cool, as the Chiefs only see these teams once every four years.

People might scoff at the NFL preseason, but it does serve a purpose. Teams have to go out and play these games because it gives them a chance to see some of the unknowns in action and so that they can trim the roster down.

I actually get excited for preseason football, but that’s only because I’m a football maniac. Bring on the preseason, baby!
