Survivor Kaoh Rong: 3 Key Scot Pollard Moments in Week 8
Survivor Kaoh Rong aired its eighth episode on Wednesday night and former KU basketball alum Scot Pollard lived to see another day. It didn’t come without some surprises though.
Survivor Kaoh Rong is in the home stretch of the season and things took a huge turn in Wednesday night’s episode. Former Jayhawk basketball player Scot Pollard made it through this episode, but his future in the game could be in question after a jaw dropping blindside took place at tribal council.
Let’s take a look at Scot’s three key moments from this week’s episode.
Key Moment #1: Talking with Jason and Nick about the girls having an alliance
After the reward challenge took place, Cydney, Julia, Michele, and Tai all went on the canoe for a bit. While they were gone, Jason brought up the possibility of the three girls potentially pulling in Aubry and Debbie to form an all-girls alliance.
When the women returned, Nick immediately pulled Julia aside and asked if anything happened while out on the boat. She denied anything (and we didn’t see footage of anything) and then Nick returned to the guys and had a smirk on his face, which rubbed Cydney the wrong way.
Nick’s attitude during this whole thing is what eventually caused everything to turn upside down, and had the guys not put the idea of a girls alliance out there, it probably wouldn’t have happened.
Key Moment #2: Being overly confident
It was apparent from the minute the episode began that the brawn and beauties knew they were safe until the brains were gone. They didn’t keep that on the down low either, as there was a clear divide between the two sides back at camp.

The challenge is when things got really ugly though, as Jeff Probst gave the contestants a chance to step down from their perches for a buffet of food. Scot and Jason stepped down along with Joe and Michele, and made comments that things were pretty much set in stone.
Nick made things worse when he stepped down immediately after Aubry dropped out, stating that he just didn’t want a brain to win. The look on Cydney’s face during the challenge was total annoyance, and it looked as if she was ready to shake things up.
Key Moment #3: Tai talking about the Super Idol at tribal council

While this wasn’t necessarily Scot Pollard’s moment per say, it did affect him greatly. Basically what happened was Jeff asked something about a hidden immunity idol and for some strange reason, Tai began to discuss the powers of the Super Idol, which is when two immunity idols can be paired together to form one Super Idol. That idol can then be played after the votes are read.
The only people who knew about this so-called idol were likely Jason, Scot, Tai, Neil (who was on the jury), and possibly Cydney since she was there when Scot and Jason found the idol at the brawn camp. When Tai was discussing this, the look on people’s faces showed shock, but Julia’s prompted Jeff to ask Aubry about it.
Aubry then gave the cue for Julia and Michele to flip, and ultimately, Nick went home in a crazy, but hilarious blindside. The problem with this is that it puts Scot in a tough spot, as one of his closest allies is gone, and his other close ally Cydney turned on him.
The women banding together to get Nick out was huge. Will Scot be able to rebound (no basketball pun intended)?
Survivor is a tricky game. One minute you can be on the chopping block, and the next day, you can be in control of the game. Scot Pollard is in a bit of a rough patch now, but it looks like he and Jason plan to retaliate next week by hiding the machete and all of the camp supplies.

Scot has a right to be angry, but at this point, the only way he’d make it to the end would likely be as a scapegoat. Contestants have already mentioned his career being a reason to not vote for him, and he hasn’t been the friendliest to people throughout the season.
This has been a fun season though, and we’ll have to see if Scot Pollard can survive yet another episode on Survivor Kaoh Rong next week!
