The KU Basketball team was the number one overall seed heading into the 2016 tournament. They’ve looked the part ever since.

The KU basketball team has looked every bit the number one overall seed during their first two games. They’re currently the odds on favorite to win the tournament with 7-2 odds and if they close out the tournament the way they started it, they could roll to a title.

They opened the tournament with a dominating performance over the 16-seeded Austin Peay Governors. They pretty much kept them in check from start to finish with a 105-79 win.

They faced off against the UConn Huskies in their second game of the tournament.

If there was a higher seeded team that could have given the Jayhawks a run for their money, it appeared to be the Huskies.

They were the 15th best defense in the nation heading into the game and they were the number one shooting team in the country from the free-throw line.

The Jayhawks did manage only 73 points which may have had something to do with the Huskies’ defense. Regardless, the Jayhawks were never in danger of losing to UConn and beat them in extremely convincing fashion.

The Jayhawks could have their hands full with the number five seed when they face off later tonight. The Terrapins have one real advantage over the Jayhawks, literally, in that they have a big height advantage.

The Jayhawks are favored by 6.5 points as they head into this match-up against the Maryland Terrapins. That’s the highest spread for any of the sweet sixteen games.

They are going to have to stay focused on one game at a time if they want to have a shot at winning the whole thing. Getting too far ahead of themselves or overlooking an opponent is a big reason that good teams lose.
