While dropping a game here or there doesn’t seem like a big deal, when you’re in a playoff race, every game matters. How important is one game?
One more win would have tied them with Detroit for the division lead and one more loss would have tied them with Oakland for the Wild Card lead (Detroit owned the tie-breaker in the division and the Royals owned the tie-breaker in the Wild Card).

This game was also the game that Ned Yost was referring to when he criticized fan attendance. The Royals have had few problems with attendance in the last few months though.
It also sounds like the Royals fans that were in attendance provided plenty of noise for this living legend.
