What better way to get the heart pumping on the Monday following daylight savings time than a Kansas City Royals hype video?

It’s that time of year again folks. We’re now just 20 days away from the Kansas City Royals first real game of the year, and people are starting to get excited.

Last season, this time of year had everyone united in one common goal. The motivation was to return to the World Series and finish what they started the year before. With packed houses at their back all season long, the Kansas City Royals battered their opponents throughout the regular season.

Their newfound success didn’t come without some animosity from other teams. The Royals suddenly had a giant target on their back and were often criticized for having ‘too much fun’. What resulted were some bench clearing incidents that only brought the team and the city closer together. It was an ‘us vs. the World’ mentality and it paid dividends.

This year, the Royals are being picked by projection systems to finish with a losing record. The video above summarizes how everyone feels about those projections when it states : “Regress? Never. Retool. Repeat.”

That’s exactly what the Royals will look to do this season. That target on their back is bigger than ever and the projection systems are out to get them again. They’ve made a habit of proving people wrong in the past and with the same winning core still together, they should have no issues in trying to do it again.

When the team took up the slogan ‘Forever Royal’ in 2015, it meant something different that it does this time around. Last season, it was a way of expressing how everyone felt during the month of October. Losing the World Series simply wasn’t enough to take away all the good feelings that were shared between the team and it’s fans.

This year, that slogan has an entirely different meaning. They’ve gotten to the fall classic for two-straight seasons and will look to become the first team since the Yankees to make it a three-peat. This time the Royals aren’t just ‘Royal’, they’re looking to defend the crown.

They’ve been the most dangerous team in baseball when backed into a corner over the last two seasons. This time they’ve got a Championship Trophy to defend as they scrap and claw their way through the season. There is no one specific team that’s going to be out to get them this year. It’s going to be everyone. The question is: Who’s going to fire the first shot?

What do you think Kansas City Royals’ fans? Does this video have you even more ready for opening day? Is that even possible? Which team is going to play the role of antagonist this season? Let me know your thoughts in the comments’ section below.
