Ned Yost is Certainly Going to End up in the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame

Yost just doesn’t come across as the best game manager in the world. Maybe he is more lucky than good. Despite all this, to his credit, Yost knows how to get the most from his players, they respond to him, and Yost brought home that World Series banner in 2015.

That can’t be ignored or overlooked. What this team accomplished in the last two seasons has given the community that is Kansas City something for which to cheer. Baseball is relevant in this town again, and it is a beautiful thing.

No one should take that away from Yost or these players. Fans should be eternally grateful to them for bringing the love of baseball back into focus in Kansas City.

It doesn’t mean people should get carried away by suggesting or thinking that Ned Yost deserves a place in Cooperstown. Even with a magnificent 2016 season, with another World Series title, Ned Yost will not be a Baseball Hall of Fame manager.

His number will go up with those of George Brett, Frank White, and Dick Howser in Kauffman Stadium, but his bust will never appear alongside those of Casey Stengel, Connie Mack, or Sparky Anderson. So much would have to go right, not only this season but for the next four or five after that. There is little to indicate Yost will even manage that long.

We should all be grateful for the part Yost has played in the rejuvenation of baseball in this city, but just don’t get carried away. Enjoy the ride while it lasts, and cheer like crazy when Yost goes into the Royals Hall of Fame.
