KC Royals News: Jarrod Dyson and the Future

facebooktwitterreddit

KC Royals news is about Jarrod Dyson being the Opening Day starter in right field, and about the future of the Kansas City Royals organization.

Not many people were jumping for joy when it was reported that Jarrod Dyson would likely be the starting right fielder for the KC Royals. What has proved to be a position difficult to fill in Kansas City seems to be continuing down that road.

The past two years have seen two guys come in on one-year deals and move on to other teams (or simply not be re-signed in Alex Rios‘ case). It’s been frustrating to say the least, but Dayton Moore and Ned Yost are sticking to their guns heading into spring training and planning to use Dyson and Paulo Orlando as a platoon in right field.

Fortunately, the Kansas City Royals have some outfielders in their farm system who can hopefully make some strides n 2016. Some of these guys are Brett Eibner, Reymond Fuentes, Jose Martinez, and Bubba Starling to name a few, all of whom could end up on the major league roster by the time September rolls around.

It’ll be a fun season for Royals fans, as the younger fans have yet to experience a season where the team has been defending World Series champions. Hopefully, Dyson can perform admirably in his new starting role and make Royals fans proud.

KC Royals Fans Should Be Excited About Jarrod Dyson [Mark Kanter, KC Kingdom]

"Ned Yost has indicated Dyson would most likely be in a platoon role with Paulo Orlando, which means he’d only see right-handed pitchers. His career .328 on-base percentage against righties isn’t sexy, but it’s adequate."

While not everyone is excited about seeing Jarrod Dyson in right field, this could be a beneficial move for the Kansas City Royals. Dyson comes at a cheap price and it’s better than throwing in a minor league guy who isn’t ready for the bright lights of Major League Baseball yet.
