Kansas City Royals: Top 15 Pitchers In Losses All-Time
By Scott Dillon
The Kansas City Royals have some great pitchers on this list. It’s easy to see why losses don’t hold much water.
The only kind of losses the Royals need to avoid in 2016 are the kinds that come in bunches or in mass quantity. They did plenty of that in the late 90’s and only recently stopped the suffering.
Today’s Royals’ players also have a slightly easier task at avoiding losses than the players of yesteryear did. Unlike the Royals’ players of old, today’s players need to only keep the game in check for six innings. The bullpen will take care of the rest if the starters can avoid losing the game in six short innings.
When looking at the work of players like Steve Busby and Dennis Leonard, only having to pitch six innings per outing looks pretty attainable.

While win/loss totals are fun to look at, and are always a good talking point when it comes to a career, it’s just not the best way to evaluate a pitcher.
There are some pitchers, like Kyle Davies, who’s win/loss records actually do them justice. He just wasn’t a good pitcher and he was close to landing in this list with 44 losses.
There have been a lot of really good players for the Royals who have been the pitcher on record when the Royals’ lost the game. There are going to be many more in the future. That doesn’t define how good they are.
What do you think Kansas City Royals’ fans? Do losses mean very much in trying to determine a pitcher’s worth? Are there any Royals’ players on the team that are going to fall into this category someday? Let me know your thoughts in the comments’ section below.
