KC Chiefs Go With Safe Pick In 2016 Mock Draft
By Scott Dillon
Football season isn’t quite over but the KC Chiefs are looking ahead to next year. What new faces could the Chiefs add on draft day?
It’s that time of year again Chiefs’ fans! For years, the KC Chiefs have been in the ‘There’s always next year’ phase. That means the draft is always something that fans looked forward to. With new life comes new possibilities.
For this mock draft I used Fanspeak’s On The Clock Mock Draft Simulator to make all eight of the Chiefs’ picks. I chose to use CBS sports’ big board to help me make my picks.
The Chiefs will head into the 2016 draft in a different situation than they’ve found themselves in recent years. The Chiefs have a real shot at contending next season.

With the young talent they’ve drafted recently along with good veteran play from Alex Smith, Jeremy Maclin, and Derrick Johnson, the Chiefs have the ability to build depth as well as fill needs.
While the needs are still unclear due to the impending departures of free agency, I tried to make my picks assuming, even if it’s wishful thinking, that the Chiefs would try to bring back Eric Berry and Derrick Johnson.
My results generated three defensive players and five offensive players which is strange considering how many defensive free agents the Chiefs have.
Alright. Enough small talk. Let’s get to the picks!
