Toronto Blue Jays: Early July

The defending American League champs open up a three-game set against the Blue Jays on the Fourth of July…in Canada!

The last time the Royals played in Toronto during the regular season, they were involved in yet another benches clearing incident.

Josh Donaldson didn’t take kindly to the Royals’ pitchers throwing him inside pitches. Anything that wasn’t in his ‘wheelhouse’, he considered to be too close for comfort. He made it well known that he didn’t agree with these tactics in a way that can only be described as childish.

The Blue Jays may have won the regular season series against the Royals, but they couldn’t lock it up when it mattered most.

They’ll likely be looking for a little revenge against the team that kept them from the World Series. Their lineup will be very dangerous with four hitters that could bat ‘cleanup’ for any other team.

Look for this series to be another potential playoff preview. It should be full of offense and has the potential to clear benches. Who doesn’t like a good boxing match between innings anyways?
