Kansas City Royals: 2016 Promotional Schedule Released

The Kansas City Royals released their promotional schedule for the 2016 season on Friday. Some of the items that stand out the most are the World Series replica trophy and a Monarchs fedora.

Kansas City loves its Royals, and Royals fans love free stuff. That’s when whenever the promotional schedule is released every year, fans are always stoked.

This year has some pretty cool stuff on the schedule, like a World Series Champion replica trophy being given out to the first 20,000 fans on April 23rd. Last season, the team gave out American League Champion replica trophies, but they were gone within the gates being opened five minutes.

T-Shirt Tuesdays are always popular too, with six shirts being slated to be given away. The first 10,000 fans will receive those shirts, so make sure you get to the K early on said days.

Something disappointing about this year’s promotional schedule is that it does not appear that the Royals are doing the university nights.

In years past, Kauffman Stadium has played host to university nights for Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wichita State. Fans of these schools who showed up to Kauffman with a special ticket received a Royals themed cap.

Of course, the team is still doing the usual exciting events, such as Buck Night and fireworks. Buck Night is when hot dogs, peanuts, and Pepsi/Diet Pepsi are only a dollar each. The fireworks are every Friday night home game after the game (and they happen whether the Royals win or lose).

Also returning this season are the bobbleheads, which are always popular with the fans. They are commemorative postseason bobbleheads again this year, and consist of Ned Yost, Kendrys Morales, Alcides Escobar, Wade Davis, and Salvador Perez.

While it’s exciting that the Kansas City Royals are defending World Series champions, getting these items is going to be difficult. Last season, I would show up to the t-shirt Tuesday games fairly early, and would still barely get a shirt. I thought they might decide to bump it up to 20,000 fans this season.
