Round Four: Ramik Wilson

Grade: B

The Chiefs may have hit very big on Ramik Wilson in the fourth round of the draft.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Wilson saw very little playing time, but when he did get his chances he made the most of them.

In two different games Wilson accounted for eight tackles filling in for Josh Mauga. With Derrick Johnson potentially on his way out, Wilson may be his replacement at the inside linebacker position.

Wilson was a force in college, racking up over 100 tackles in his final two years at Georgia. If he paid attention and took the time to learn from Johnson, he may be able to take over without the Chiefs losing too much next season.

Round Five: D.J. Alexander

Grade: B

D.J. Alexander had an impact for the Chiefs, just not at his listed position of linebacker.

Is D.J. the best best to replace Derrick Johnson, who also goes by D.J.? His athletic ability and physicality make him a good fit in that position.

Alexander is a standout on special teams and shows athleticism and quickness nearly every chance he gets. He has made a number of big hits on special teams and if he’s not in on the tackle, he’s in the screen on video.

Alexander also earned special teams player of the week after he blocked a punt against the Raiders that went for a safety. Earlier in that game he was evaluated for a concussion so he also has some toughness that you can’t really put down on paper.

Is D.J. the best bet to replace Derrick Johnson, who also goes by D.J.? His athletic ability and physicality make him a good fit in that position.

With two candidates who could take on the inside linebackers job, it’s unlikely Derrick Johnson will return. If he’s willing to take less money to stay in Arrowhead, then he could be back, but after the year he had it’s unlikely he’s willing to take ‘close to retirement’ money.
