Mizzou Football: Ranking the Five Best Quarterbacks All-Time
By Scott Dillon
Number One: Chase Daniel
Who in the Kansas City area doesn’t love Chase Daniel? At least, now…
Chase Daniel may not have been well liked by those Chiefs fan’s that also like to Root for the Jayhawks. In 2007, the Jayhawks played a decent brand of football. Okay, they weren’t just good, they were really good. When the Jayhawks and Tigers squared off in their annual ‘Border Wars’ game they were ranked two and three in the country respectively.
The Tigers came out on top in a close game that put the Tigers in the number one spot in the country, even though they only held it for a week.

Chase Daniel is the best quarterback to ever suit up for Missouri. He took over Smith’s total yards record after only starting for three seasons. His career passer efficiency rating of 148.9 is the highest by a quarterback in the history of the school.
He also held a career completion percentage of 68%. During one span in the 2008 season he had actually thrown more touchdowns than incompletions at seven and six respectively.
Daniel threw for 101 touchdowns in his career and added 10 more on the ground finishing with 13,256 total yards of offense. He was the 2007 Big-12 Offensive Player of the year, the first tiger to ever hold that honor. He also finished fourth in the 2007 Hesiman voting.
During one span in the 2008 season he had actually thrown more touchdowns than incompletions at seven and six respectively.
Chase Daniel now spends his days on the bench in Kansas City backing up Alex Smith. I for one am happy to have him. In the unfortunate event that the Chiefs would need a backup to enter the game, Daniel doesn’t miss a beat. He kept the Chargers out of the playoffs with a win last year and gave them everything they could handle the year before using all backups.
