KC Chiefs News: Doug Pederson and Injuries
By Scott Dillon
KC Chiefs news focuses on the impending departure of offensive coordinator Doug Pederson along with some key injuries to watch for Saturday’s game.
The Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Coordinator for the past three seasons appears to have earned his shot at running his own team. ESPN.com broke a report that Doug Pederson will take over the team that his current head coach, Andy Reid, used to manage, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Doug Pederson has received plenty of scrutiny in his time in Kansas City, as the downfield attack all but disappears sometimes. This may have more to do with his quarterback than with his ability to call plays. In 2011, Pederson was the quarterbacks coach when they set a franchise record of 6,836 yards.
Hopefully, Pederson stays focused on his current team for three more games before he starts making grand plans for the Eagles.

There are several key injuries to keep an eye on for the game on Saturday for both teams.
On the Chiefs side, it was reported as though Tamba Hali, Justin Houston, and Jeremy Maclin were away from the team portion of practice but did some work on their own. That should come as welcome news to Chiefs’ fans as Maclin may actually find his way into the game.
The Patriots appear to be pretty banged up themselves as perhaps their two biggest weapons are questionable for Saturday. According to the injury report on ESPN.com, Rob Gronkowski got injections for an ailing knee, although that report was later refuted by Ian Rapoport here.
Julian Edelman is also listed as questionable although it’s unlikely either would miss Saturday’s game. Is this just a smoke-screen by the Patriots or should Pats’ fans feel a little deflated? (Will those puns ever get old?)

Jeremy Maclin, Justin Houston At Practice [Matt Verderame, Arrowhead Addict]
"At this point, you have to think Maclin will be playing. This is a massive lift for the Chiefs, who now have a pair of weapons who can do damage to the New England Patriots secondary, alongside tight end Travis Kelce. Kansas City has won 11 consecutive games and keeping Maclin in the lineup certainly is not hurting the cause for 12 straight victories."

Hopefully the Chiefs show up fully healthy on Saturday against the Patriots, but they will surely have a large task ahead of them regardless. Brady and Belicheck are flat out good in the playoffs. The Chiefs can win, but they have to play at the very top of their game.
