KC Royals news this morning concerns who could be the potential playmakers for this team in 2016. Will it be the guys we’re used to seeing step up or someone new?

The Kansas City Royals won the World Series in 2015, and what made them such a great team was that it wasn’t just one guy that got them there – It was the entire team.

When outsiders look at the KC Royals, they likely can’t name just one guy that helps the organization more than anyone else.

There are multiple guys, whether it be Alex Gordon, Salvador Perez, Lorenzo Cain, Eric Hosmer, or a pitcher like Edinson Volquez, Yordano Ventura, or even a reliever like Wade Davis. This team is stacked with talented players, who all had a hand in helping get this team its second world title.

So, will that trend continue in 2016, or will one particular person step up and lead the charge for this team? Will it be Alex Gordon, who just signed a four year deal worth $72 million, or will it be someone else?

The good news heading into 2016 is that most of the team from last year are still in tact. The only major guys the Royals lost are Johnny Cueto, who signed with San Francisco, and Ben Zobrist, who is taking his talents to Wrigley Field to play for the Cubs. Other than that, the team is mostly the same as the World Series winning squad, and that’s a good sign for this upcoming season.

Should the Royals look at Mat Latos? [Tim Webber, Royals Review]

More from KC Kingdom

"So why should the Royals take a look at Latos? Well, he fits the bill of “cheap” — he’ll be looking for a short contract to rebuild his value. And he’s not as bad of a pitcher as his 2015 stats suggest."

With the Kansas City Chiefs still alive and kicking in the playoffs, a lot of the attention is (deservedly) on them, but Kansas City still loves their Royals and are hoping for a third straight trip to the World Series and a second straight title!
