KC Royals: Dayton Moore Reclamation Projects
By Scott Dillon
In conclusion, Dayton Moore is pretty good at picking players on the rebound. He’s had his share of ‘misses’, but even those misses weren’t terrible.
It should inspire confidence among fans if Dayton Moore goes after a pitcher looking to earn ‘street cred’. Dayton Moore’s ability to pick correctly on guys who’ve under performed after having success in years prior is a big reason the Royals are at the point they’re currently in, and there’s no reason to quit now.

He’s had a little less success in ‘hitting’ big on hitters, but Morales may be enough to make up for the rest of them. He also hasn’t missed too big on hitters as reclamation projects.
Kris Medlen count’s as a project, but it’s still a little too soon to decide if he’s a ‘hit’ or ‘miss’ yet. Everything seems to be trending in the right direction for Medlen who posted decent numbers for someone recovering from their second Tommy John.
The upside is certainly there, and if he can retain his old form, he may be one of the Royals most trusted starters next season.

I didn’t cover every project that Dayton Moore has attempted, and again, I tried to stay away from guys that were always good, bad, or in between. I pose the question, “Who’s Next?” What projects would you like to see Moore target?
