KC Chiefs news this morning focuses solely around the Chiefs’ playoff game against the Houston Texans. Will the Chiefs finally win a playoff game?

The KC Chiefs take on the Houston Texans in the first round of the NFL playoffs today, Saturday, January 9th at 3:25 p.m. CST. The game is the first of four in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Chiefs and the Texans already had one matchup this year which came back in Week 1 when the Chiefs got their only win in the opening six weeks of the season. That game was also in Houston, leading many to believe the red hot Chiefs have a strong chance at changing the franchises narrative, which has been losing for the last 22 years. That’s 22 years without a playoff victory.

The last time the Chiefs won a playoff game Joe Montana, who retired after the 1994 season, was at the helm and he and the rest of the KC Chiefs took on the Houston Oilers, which haven’t been an NFL franchise for years.

It’s safe to say it’s about time for the Chiefs’ franchise to get a win in the post-season. Hey, if the Royals can do it, why can’t the Chiefs?

In the Week 1 matchup, wide out DeAndre Hopkins took rookie cornerback Marcus Peters to school, scoring two touchdowns on almost 100 yards receiving (read more below). This was however without the services of the Chiefs top corner Sean Smith, who missed the game due to suspension.

With Smith back in the lineup for this matchup and Peters being much improved from the first of his NFL career, I believe the KC Chiefs’ secondary will be able to contain Hopkins at least a little better than they did earlier this season.

My prediction for today’s game is:

Kansas City Chiefs 23 [10/3/7/3]

Houston Texans 16 [3/7/6/0]

"In what should be a battle between two of the best defenses in the NFL, the Chiefs head down to Houston hoping to continue the marvelous turnaround they started in Week 7. From 1-5 to 11-5, they have earned their right to be one of the 12 teams remaining. As Berry alluded to in the locker room two weeks ago, in a time perfect for disbelief, the Chiefs believed. “We’re supposed to be right here,” he said. Now it’s time to prove it."

"the Chiefs were 1-5 when they played the Pittsburgh Steelers back on Oct. 26. The Royals stopped by the game to show off their ALCS trophy, which they had won three days earlier. The Chiefs went on to beat the Steelers and have not lost since. They are on a 10-game winning streak heading into their wild-card game at the Houston Texans on Saturday. And the Royals? They won the World Series. "You hear the phrase “next man up” in the NFL all the time, but few teams have demonstrated the concept better than the 11-5 Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are actually right in the middle of the league in terms of total games missed due to injury: 16th in the league with 149 total games missed, according to to this site. But it’s their ability to step in and play as a team and continue to execute after losing key players that has allowed the Chiefs to get on a roll and into the postseason."

Today’s game day! Be sure to tune into the Chiefs at Texans in the opening game of the 2016 NFL playoffs today at 3:25 p.m. CST.
