This week will be filled with anxiety for all Kansas City Chiefs fans.

The Chiefs haven’t won a playoff game since the 1993 season. A lot has changed since then, as Chiefs fans are well aware.

For one, the quarterback has been a hard to find position in Kansas City since that day in 1994. Joe Montana was quarterbacking the Chiefs that season, and the team has really only had two stable quarterbacks since then (Trent Green and our current guy Alex Smith).

Second, it’s been back and forth on if this team is good or not. The last time this team had three straight winning seasons was in the mid to late 90s.

Andy Reid has certainly turned things around though, leading this team to three consecutive winning seasons and two playoff berths. Now the main thing on his agenda (for this season anyway) is to just win a damn playoff. That’s all Chiefs fans really want this year.

Obviously Chiefs fans want to go as far as possible, just like anyone wants for their team, but just winning a playoff game would be huge for Kansas City.

This team hasn’t lost a game since the Kansas City Royals won the World Series. Maybe that’s been the motivating factor behind our Chiefs’ winning ways, maybe not.

I guess we’ll see what this team is really made of come this Saturday in Houston. The Chiefs have a chance to win their first playoff game in 22 years in the very same city where they won their LAST playoff game.

Fingers crossed, Chiefs Kingdom.
