KU Basketball hosts their second Big 12 game of the year as they host a matchup with the second-ranked Oklahoma Sooners on Monday.

On Monday, January fourth, the top-ranked Kansas Jayhawks take on the surging Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners are unblemished at 12-0 and have the number four ranked scorer in the nation, Buddy Hield, who averages 24.7 points per game, the most in the Big 12.

The Jayhawks are coming off of a convincing with over the 23rd-ranked Baylor Bears on Saturday in Allen Fieldhouse, asserting their perceived dominance over the conference with a 102-74 victory in their conference play opener.

The Baylor Bears are a pretty solid team and deserve to be in the second half of the top 25 in my opinion, but they don’t belong in the same sentence with KU basketball right now.

KU basketball is just simply stacked this year. They have depth at basically every position, enjoy pretty decent overall size as a team, and have shooters up and down the roster. They don’t have much of a weakness because if someone is playing poorly, they have some players who head coach Bill Self can turn to on the bench.

Senior forward Perry Ellis is arguably the best player on this year’s squad. He will, at least, be in the conversation for Big 12 Player of the Year when it is all said and done, barring injury (knocking on wood). He brings this squad together on the court and has immensely improved his jump shot this season, extending his range to beyond the three-point line. He is also no slouch in the post either.

This should be one heck of a game with two of the nation’s top teams squaring off in an early conference game.

This matchup should be one of the best of the 2015-2016 NCAA men’s basketball season, and is the best matchup that we have had thus far this season.

With Hield, Selden, and Ellis all playing in the game, one could argue that three of the top five or so scorers in the Big 12 are playing in this game.

Spangler is widely considered to be one of the best rebounders in the country and sure can impose his presence physically on anyone who gets in his path. The Jayhawk bigs are not looking forward to this matchup with him at all.

Kansas guard Devonte Graham looks to be much improved this season. So far, his three-point shooting seems to be much improved, he is more reliable when he has the ball, and he hasn’t lost a step on defense, which when he’s on the top of his game, he could be one of the best on-ball defenders in the Big 12.
