Royals Rumors: White Sox Interested In Alex Gordon

facebooktwitterreddit

Alex Gordon continues to dominate the Royals rumors headlines, and the most recent one is the Chicago White Sox having interest in the left fielder.

I think it’s safe to say that all most Kansas City Royals fans want for Christmas is to have Alex Gordon signed to Kansas City on a deal that both sides can be happy with.

That dream has taken a turn for the worst, as it appears now the Chicago White Sox are in on the Alex Gordon sweepstakes, at least according to Ken Rosenthal.

I’ve been one of the more vocal ones in saying that I’ll be understanding if Gordon decides to sign elsewhere for more money, but this would be unacceptable.

The White Sox have become public enemy number one for the Royals after last season. Sure, Jeff Samardzija is no longer there (he’s a Giant now), but the White Sox did sign Brett Lawrie last week, in what should make a heated rivalry even more heated.

These two teams don’t like each other, and they play 19 times a year every year until the end of time. The Royals would be playing against one of their former greats 19 times a year, and that doesn’t sound like fun to me.

Maybe it’s the optimistic side of me (I have one, I swear), but I just don’t see Gordon as a White Sock. He’s been a Royal for far too long and understands how that could probably tarnish his image here. Maybe he doesn’t care about that side of it though, as baseball is a business. Players go wherever the money is.

The lingering factor out there for Chicago not signing Gordon is the same as for the Royals… Finances, again according to Ken Rosenthal.

Jason Heyward was considered the top prospect on the outfielder free agent market, and it was assumed that once he signed somewhere, the rest of the dominos would fall and the waiting game would be over for the Alex Gordon bidding. Here we are though, two weeks after Heyward signed and Gordon is still a free agent.

This news about the White Sox being interested in our longtime favorite has me concerned. Alex Gordon is a Royals great, and him going to the White Sox might change some people’s opinions of him.

Just remember all that Alex Gordon did for Kansas City during his ten years with the team. Try and respect his decision wherever he does end up… even if it’s with the Chicago White Sox.
