KC Chiefs Win Seventh Straight In Ugly Game
The KC Chiefs did not play good football on Sunday, but their defense held and they are now the winners of seven straight games.
What is going on with the Kansas City Chiefs? Even when they play horrible football against a horrible team like they did on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, they still find ways to win.
This game was ugly from the beginning, as early on saw Frankie Hammond losing a fumble on a punt return. The Chiefs were able to hold the Bolts to zero points in the first half and put up ten of their own. Those ten points would be the only ones the Chiefs would have.
The first score came on a 44-yard touchdown from Alex Smith to Albert Wilson to put the Chiefs up 7-0 under two minutes.

Not long after, Philip Rivers threw an interception to Derrick Johnson and the Chiefs were able to capitalize with a 40-yard Cairo Santos field goal.
The Chiefs offense would be silenced after those ten points were scored, but the Chargers put the scare on Kansas City. Josh Lambo knocked through a field goal after Santos missed a 46-yard field goal on what looked like a bad snap.
It wasn’t until the very end of the game when the Chargers started to march. They held the ball for five minutes and went 78 yards on 17 plays to try and end Kansas City’s winning streak. Rivers got the ball near Danny Woodhead, but Dee Ford broke up the pass in the end zone.
This was not a pretty game. In fact, it was very ugly. The offense looked sloppy, the defense allowed Rivers and company to storm right down the field at the end, and special teams did not have a great day either.
Game Notes:
- Travis Kelce had a rough day. He had three receptions for 18 yards and had a few crucial drops and a penalty that wiped out a Charcandrick West touchdown run (which to be fair, probably wouldn’t have been anything had Kelce not knocked the defender over).
- Dee Ford had flashes of brilliance in his second start, with three sacks on Philip Rivers. He had seven tackles as well. Ron Parker and Jaye Howard had sacks also.
- Alex Smith threw his first interception since week three.
Game stats:
Total yards: 329

The KC Chiefs now sit at 8-5 on the year, and who would have thought that’d be possible after the way they started this season? I sure wouldn’t have.
One thing’s for sure though. The Kansas City Chiefs will need to patch up a lot of things this week in preparation for their week 15 match-up against the Ravens in Baltimore next weekend because this game… Not pretty.
