KC Chiefs News: Charcandrick West, Spencer Ware And More
By Alec Tilson
The KC Chiefs take on the Oakland Raiders today in a battle of AFC West rivals, with a potential playoff spot on the line.
The Kansas City Chiefs (6-5) might be without its best player today, but they’re still the road favorites in what will be a hostile O.co Coliseum. Linebacker Justin Houston has been ruled out, but the Chiefs still have everything to play for today.
Fresh off five straight victories, Kansas City will play the Oakland Raiders (5-6) twice in the season’s final five weeks. It’s a favorable schedule down the stretch for the Chiefs, but that’s only on paper. The Chiefs must stay in their lane and let the other stuff fall into place.
The Chiefs finally have two effective running backs healthy at the same time. Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware will presumably split carries today, but it will be interesting to see how the game planning goes with both the young running backs firmly in the mix. Knile Davis, the veteran of the group, remains limited to special teams duties.

Five Reasons To Hate The Raiders (KC Kingdom)
"Kansas City may not be the most welcoming place for opposing fans, but Oakland is arguably the last welcoming in the league, especially for Chiefs fans. I’ve had relatives (Chiefs fans) living in California at one point that told me they didn’t wear red to the game in fear of retribution."
Eric Berry Sets Model For 2015 Chiefs (Arrowhead Addict)
"The 2015 Kansas City Chiefs are all about overcoming adversity. That is what will make or break this team down the stretch. A rash of injuries and a handful of tough losses have set the tone for the season. Now, almost three quarters through, the Chiefs will have to demonstrate once and for all that they are ready to overcome any hurdles standing in the way of them and that elusive playoff win."
KC Chiefs: Top Ten In NFL Power Rankings (KC Kingdom)
"The Chiefs started their 2015 campaign at 1-5. Since then, they have won five straight games and are currently in the first of two wild card spots if the season ended today. This season has had an amazing turn around after most fans were about to give up on them after their 10-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, marking their fifth straight loss after winning the season opener."

"Rex Ryan and the Bills ran a lot of single-high looks and Jeremy Maclin found himself in one-on-one situations on the outside.“If we’re even, I’m leaving,” Maclin has said about one-on-one looks. In facing the Raiders this weekend, they will see some more single-high looks, but the personnel they’ll face makes it a bit more of a challenge.“With Charles Woodson back there, he’s reading quarterbacks’ eyes pretty well and you see him coming off the hatch to make some great plays,” Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson said."
The Secret To KC Chiefs Success: Negative Plays (Arrowhead Pride)
"Reid made an excellent choice to “get back to the fundamentals.” The Chiefs have lowered their number of negative plays on offense and a direct result of that has been a much improved Chiefs team. I believe the Chiefs ability to lower their negative plays on offense is one of the most significant factors in why the Chiefs have made the turnaround. If they continue to limit the negative plays they will not only make the playoffs, but they should also have a good shot at doing some damage when they get there."
How Will Chiefs Split Workload Between Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware (ESPN.com)
"But the Chiefs also can’t ignore the job done by Ware, who took over as the featured back from West two weeks ago in San Diego, when West left their lineup with a sore hamstring. Ware led the Chiefs in rushing that day and again in West’s absence last week against the Buffalo Bills."
