KC Chiefs News: Alex Smith And Playoff Odds
In KC Chiefs news recently, all of the talk is about how the Chiefs have completely revamped their season and are now in the fifth spot of the playoff standings.
That’s right, my friends.
If the 2015 NFL season ended at this very moment, your Kansas City Chiefs would be the fifth seed in the playoffs and would be heading to Indianapolis to take on the Colts.
Seems like a familiar sentence. In the last five of the Chiefs’ postseason appearances, they’ve faced the Colts three times, and have lost to them all three times. Let’s not talk about it anymore, k?

A large part of the KC Chiefs’ recent success is due to the great play of quarterback Alex Smith.
Now a lot of fans are hard on Alex because of his constant “checking down” and not throwing the ball down the field, but this guy has been on fire the past two starts. He’s gone 39 of 55 for 508 yards and two touchdowns in those two starts.
Not to mention, Smith hasn’t thrown an interception since week three in Green Bay. Pretty good quarterbacking, eh?
Let’s take a look at what Fansided has to say about the Chiefs’ playoff odds and about the man under center.
Kansas City Chiefs: Remaining Games in 2015 Season (KC Kingdom)
"The Chiefs are fortunate with their remaining schedule this season, and this bodes very well for them at the moment, as they currently hold the fifth spot in the playoff standings. There are still five games remaining in the season, but the Chiefs don’t face an opponent with a record over .500 for the rest of the season."
NFL power rankings: Chiefs continue surge (Arrowhead Addict)
"Nationally, the Chiefs are beginning to get some serious recognition. It is impossible to ignore Kansas City at this point, perhaps the hottest team in football not named the Carolina Panthers. Despite being 6-5 overall, it is a group that absolutely nobody would want to face in the playoffs."
Alex Smith says ‘I could care less’ about perception (Arrowhead Addict)
"After the game, Smith was asked about his feelings on the idea that he’s a game manager. Undoubtedly sick of that question, Smith gave a strong answer."

"The Chiefs picked a good day for an offensive outburst. The defense allowed more than 20 points in a game for the first time since an early October loss to the Cincinnati Bengals."
The Kansas City Chiefs are a tough team, and peaking at the right time (Arrowhead Pride)
"I’m not sure at what point I realized the momentum had shifted and the Chiefs weren’t just sitting there dazed taking punches. All I know is by the time Kelce put the Chiefs up 21-16, I knew this game was different. The Chiefs weren’t just going to get hit in the mouth and fold. They were going to throw some punches of their own."
The Unkillable Kansas City Chiefs (Rolling Stone)
"Going into Week 12, the Chiefs had jumped up to fourth in ESPN’s FPI rankings and sixth in Football Outsider’s DVOA rankings. Their standing among the NFL’s best should only improve after beating a Bills team that was ranked in the top 10 of both of those lists. And they’ve done it with a cast that’s tailor-made for a comeback story."

I know one thing for sure, and that’s that I can’t wait to see how the rest of this season plays out.
