If the season ended after this weekend’s slate of games, the Kansas City Chiefs wouldn’t be in the playoffs. They’d be behind the New York Jets for the second Wildcard spot.

The next few weeks are going to be HUGE for Kansas City. They play only one team with an above .500 record in the Buffalo Bills and they get them at home at Arrowhead in just two weeks.

The rest of the season sees the Chiefs face the Raiders (4-5) twice, the Chargers (2-7) twice, the Ravens (2-7) , and the Browns (2-7). This is certainly a favorable schedule for Kansas City, but at the same time, you can’t look at the records of these teams too much.

Oakland isn’t the same Oakland Raiders team we’ve seen the past 10 years. Derek Carr is a good quarterback and he has a new favorite weapon in rookie Amari Cooper.

San Diego is San Diego with Philip Rivers under center and slinging the ball as much as he can. The Chargers defense isn’t the least bit scary though, and that’s why I have confidence that the Chiefs can win at least one, if not both, match-ups against the Bolts.

The Ravens have easily been the biggest disappointment in the league this year. I thought for sure they’d win the AFC North, but instead they’ve been terrible. They just lost to Jacksonville for goodness sakes!

Cleveland isn’t a good team either, and the Chiefs get to host them at Arrowhead late in the season, which bodes well for them.
