No George Brett

Yes, for opponents George Brett was about as scary as any player could be. With his hard nose style of play, hustling every minute of every game, he had to intimidate pitchers and fielders alike.

His teammate Hal McRae was also that type of player, known for taking out infielders at second base. In fact, they even made a rule to prevent hard slides into second because of how McRae approached the game.

Dennis Leonard also sported a Fu Man Chu mustache for some of his time with the Royals, and he had to have been an intimidating pitcher to dig in against. He, too, could have made this list.

These guys were scary in many ways to the players who faced them, but they are well represented in all-time lists about the Royals. It is nice to take a look at others aspects of this franchise.

With back-to-back World Series appearances, maybe the Royals will become a scary good franchise after nearly thirty years of frightening futility. That is the hope of the fans.

This team has suffered its share of scary players and seasons, mostly for fans, but some players have stood out for positive reasons.
