There’re some other good things working in the Kansas City Royals favor as well.

Astros ace Dallas Keuchel pitched the Wild Card game on Tuesday, so he’ll be unavailable tonight and Friday. He threw 87 pitches and it would make sense if he’s targeting a start for Game 3 on Sunday afternoon. This is big for the Royals, as Keuchel finished the regular season 20-8 with a 2.48 ERA. Basically a front-runner to win A.L. Cy Young.

If the Royals can take advantage of starter Collin McHugh and perhaps hit the struggling Scott Kazmir, they will have a 2-0 stranglehold on the series when Keuchel does pitch again.

It’s a tall order for any team to win a pennant two seasons in a row, but this Royals team has that opportunity. It’s the same group, the same management, and a much different vibe. With good defense and some solid pitching, the Royals will find themselves right back in the Fall Classic. And hopefully, this time they’ll get what is theirs.
