KC Chiefs: Game Against Bears Is A Must Win

The KC Chiefs are 1-3 and really need to start winning games if they want to be a serious playoff contender this season.

You hear “This game is a must win” all the time. Sometimes it’s people being a tad bit dramatic, but other times it’s a very true statement. For the Kansas City Chiefs, this Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears is an absolute must win.

Should the Chiefs fall to Chicago, they’ll drop to 1-4 on the year. Denver plays Oakland, so you can pretty much pencil them in for a 5-0 start. That would put the Chiefs four games back of Denver, and the Broncos also hold the advantage since they won the first match up between the two.

This game against the Bears is certainly winnable for Kansas City. The Chiefs have loads of talent on both sides of the ball, but haven’t been playing like it at all. A lot of it falls on the coaches, but the players haven’t been living up to their potential either.

The Bears don’t have a good defense. If Alex Smith can’t get something going on offense then I will be on board with making a change at the position. With guys like Jamaal Charles, Travis Kelce, and Jeremy Maclin on your squad, the excuses are running low. The offensive line blows, which is a problem, but again… The Bears defense is bad. This is the week for the Kansas City offense to shine.

I’m usually a pessimistic fan, especially when it comes to KC Chiefs football. This year, however, I actually had hope that the Chiefs would go places. I had hope that they could be a contender down the stretch. After the loss to the Broncos, I began to rethink those thoughts.

The losses to the Packers and to the Bengals may have been to good teams, but the Chiefs didn’t play well. It showed fans that this team isn’t ready to hang with the big boys yet. The Chiefs have a long way to go before making anyone a believer of their abilities to make it into the postseason this year.

So, here’s the bottom line. If the Chiefs win on Sunday, their season is far from over and they have time to make up ground. If, however, they lose then it’s safe to say that the Chiefs will not make it to the playoffs. They can’t afford anymore losses especially to bad teams. Obviously, they’ll lose a few more times down the stretch, but going 1-4 would be brutal.

The phrase “This game is a must win” is a critical one for the Kansas City Chiefs going into this weekend’s game. Let’s see if they’re up to the task.
