KC Royals Have Home Field Advantage Throughout Playoffs

The KC Royals made it through the 2015 regular season as the top dogs in the American League.

The Kansas City Royals are the reigning American League champions from a season ago after sweeping their way to the World Series. Not many thought the Royals would be the team they were a season ago, and honestly – They were right. The Royals were better than they were a season ago.

Near the end of the regular season last year, the Royals were charging just to make it to the postseason. This year it was nice because fans knew the boys in blue basically had the division title locked down after they went up 14 games over the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central.

The month of September saw the KC Royals slumping tremendously, and it had me worried that they might not be poised for a long run come October and come playoff time. Since October began though, the Royals have gone 4-0 and ended up edging out the Toronto Blue Jays for home field advantage throughout the postseason.

I honestly didn’t think that once the Royals gave home field advantage throughout to the Blue Jays that they would get it back, but Toronto slumped at the right time for the Royals. Now the Kansas City Royals will get to have home field advantage in the ALDS and the ALCS should they make it that far.

I am very impressed with how the Royals were able to pick themselves up and reclaim home field advantage during the last few games. They were the team to beat in the American League all season long and it would have sucked for them to have home field advantage stripped away from them in the last week of the season.

Home field advantage will absolutely help the KC Royals make a deep run in October. Kauffman Stadium  is a great home field environment and the fans definitely help the Royals play their best baseball. I have no doubt that Kansas City Royals fans will show up and be loud during the postseason. I remember going to games last year and it was just such an unreal environment.

Kauffman Stadium was packed frequently this year and if the fans can replicate the loudness and get in the opposing teams’ heads then the Royals should be able to play their best baseball possible.

Kansas City will host Game 1 of the ALDS on Thursday against the winner of the American League Wildcard game.

Buckle in Royals fans. We’re in for yet another exciting round of October baseball here in Kansas City.
