Sunday’s seventh match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans won’t be an easy fight, that’s for sure.

Both of these teams have hit rock bottom in the past few years: the Chiefs in 2012 and the Texans in 2013. They both also managed to turn it around the next season, the Chiefs going 11-5 and making the playoffs in 2013, and the Texans going a respectable 9-7 in 2014.

If the offensive line shows up, the offense comes to play, and the defense picks up where they left off last season, the KC Chiefs could easily make this a 4-3 Kansas City advantage in the series.

The main thing that could hurt the Chiefs’ chances of winning this weekend is if the offensive line decides not to show up like they did much of last season. Seriously, J.J. Watt is not to be taken lightly and if that offensive line looks at all like it did last year, Alex Smith will be spending a lot of time on the ground.

What bodes well for the Chiefs is that Houston doesn’t have a super explosive offense. Brian Hoyer is their starting quarterback heading into week one, and Arian Foster will be out for most of the season. Andre Johnson departed in the off season for Indianapolis, but DeAndre Hopkins is still a good receiver.

Not having Sean Smith for the next three weeks hurts, but hopefully rookie corner Marcus Peters will show up in a big way.

If the offensive line shows up, the offense comes to play, and the defense picks up where they left off last season, the KC Chiefs could easily make this a 4-3 Kansas City advantage in the series.

Let’s sure hope so.
