KC Chiefs: What To Expect From Jamaal Charles In 2015
By Aidan Setter
Jamaal Charles once called himself the “LeBron James of football” and it’s actually pretty true when you think about it.
Jamaal Charles is and has been the most talented player on the KC Chiefs during the past few years. He is a running back who can both run and catch successfully. He is very elusive with his agility, speed, and strength. He tears defenses apart as Lebron does in the NBA.

In so many ways, Charles is actually telling us the truth when he says that he’s like LeBron James (Source of link: NFL.com).
I mean it’s very clear that no other teams in the NFL rely on one player like the Chiefs have done on Charles. That begs the question of, what will Jamaal Charles carry out this season?
"“Sometimes I feel like I’m the LeBron of football because I can do so much.” – Jamaal Charles"
Right off the bat, Chiefs fans can expect big things from Jamaal. He is coming off of three straight 1,000 yard seasons and has ran for that mark five times in his seven-year career.
Charles also has Jeremy Maclin and Travis Kelce on his side. Those are both huge targets for Alex Smith to throw to, which in turn will lead to more holes for Charles to run through.
During the offseason, Jamaal Charles also mentioned that he was pleased to see that the offensive line has been upgraded. Barring injuries, the o-line should be way better than last season. If Charles was able to run for 1,000+ yards last season with a mediocre line blocking for him, imagine what he could do with a decent line and better wide receivers to space out the field for him.

I fully expect Charles to run for about 1,400 yards this season and to get about ten touchdowns, and I know what you may be thinking… “I thought he was supposed to have less of a load with all the new offensive weapons?”
The thing is, those weapons will make his production go up, but his usage goes down. Charles will be able to accumulate more yards and touchdowns on fewer attempts because defenses know that Kansas City has other people to go to.
Now don’t think I forgot about receiving! Charles is probably the best receiving back in the NFL. Last season, he caught 40 passes, which lead him to get 291 yards and five touchdowns. Talk about production!
I can’t emphasize this enough, with the new blockers and receivers, more space will be opened up. This in turn will lead to some nice yards receiving.
Keep in mind, however, Kansas City also has Knile Davis. He is a power/speed running back. He is the perfect complement to Charles.
If Charles was able to run for 1,000+ yards last season with a mediocre line blocking for him, imagine what he could do with a decent line and better wide receivers to space out the field for him.
I expect Coach Reid to up Davis’ role this season. This really won’t hurt Charles all the much because Davis has been in KC for a couple of seasons, and Charles still produces at a high level.
Jamaal Charles should have another great season and make the Pro Bowl. He will be extremely hard for anyone to take him down, and the 28-year-old back shows no signs of slowing down.
If you are a fantasy football owner, make sure to draft him on your team. This should be the best offense he has ever played in during his NFL career, so his numbers should be phenomenal.
