KC Chiefs: Alex Smith Improves In Third Preseason Game
The KC Chiefs faced the Tennessee Titans in their third preseason game of the season, and won 34-10 in a complete monsoon at Arrowhead Stadium.
Alex Smith looked great in his third (and likely last) game of the preseason. He started the game off by leading the Chiefs down the field and hit Jeremy Maclin with a 29 yard touchdown pass to put the Chiefs up 6-0 early on.
Smith then led the Chiefs to a Cairo Santos field goal, and another touchdown later on in the first. Smith hit Travis Kelce with an eight yard touchdown pass to put Kansas City up 17-0.

The starters were supposed to play three quarters in this game, but Andy Reid had seen enough from Smith after his two touchdown performance, and put in Aaron Murray midway through the second quarter.
Speaking of Murray, he started off a bit shaky, throwing a pick on his first series. He later threw two touchdowns, both to Fred Williams.
Honestly, the game, despite it being preseason, was quite fun to watch. Anytime you get to see a game being played in a monsoon is a lot of fun, and it just so happened that our Chiefs happened to be on the winning side of the ball.
The weather was actually so bad that the game was suspended with less than four minutes to go, and was later canceled due to lightning.
Here are some notes from the game:
- Quarterbacks looked good. Chase Daniel did not play, but that’s likely because he’ll get the majority of the starting time for the finale next week.
- Smith was not sacked in the (almost) two quarters that he played in.
- Charcandrick West is way better than Cyrus Gray was.
- Fred Williams is a lot of fun to watch.
- Dustin Colquitt and the Chiefs did not punt once.
- Cairo Santos missed an extra point attempt.
Player Stats:

The Kansas City Chiefs are now 3-0 in preseason action. Yes, it’s exciting to see your team go undefeated no matter what the situation is, but keep in mind this is just preseason. Still though, it’s hard not to like what we’re seeing out of this team so far.
Alex Smith looked fantastic tonight, as did most of the starters in general. If the KC Chiefs continue to play like this, 2015 could be a fun season in Kansas City.
The Chiefs will play their final preseason game on Thursday on the road against the St. Louis Rams.
