1. Sherron Collins
Sherron Collins is definitely the best Kansas Jayhawks basketball player since 2010 for his leadership. He grew up in Chicago living around gang life because of his father but got out of it because of basketball.
Being a three-sport athlete playing basketball, baseball, and football, Collins was one of the most athletic players in the country. He was a McDonald’s All-American and was the 41st ranked player in the nation according to 247 sports.
His stardom in college didn’t go through to his NBA career as he last played in the NBA D-League with the Texas Legends. He played one year in the NBA going undrafted, but signing with the Charlotte Bobcats. In that season, he played in 20 games averaging just under 1 point a game. Collins soon went to play internationally in Turkey before returning back to the D-League.
He was one of the greatest Jayhawks of all time from his championship win to his stats. He played in 38 games and averaged 10 points in both his freshman and sophomore season.
His junior season was his most memorable leading them over Memphis in the national championship to crown them number one in college basketball.
- 18.8 points
- 2.9 rebounds
- 5.1 assists
Most critics say he should have left his junior season for the draft but Collins played his senior season and scored 15 points a game.
Collins is the best Kansas Jayhawk since 2010 because of his national championship run that 2008 season. Although he didn’t have a great NBA career, Collins will forever be known in the town of Lawrence, Kansas.
