Royals Rumors: Should Royals Continue To Add Pitching

The Kansas City Royals have done a significant job at fixing the holes on this roster. They needed a better pitcher, a true ace mind you, so Dayton Moore went out and got Johnny Cueto. The Royals needed some help in the outfield and possibly in the infield, so they acquired Ben Zobrist from Oakland.
Moore has really proved to the fans of the Royals that this team is for real and is all about making it back to the World Series.
While I’m all for adding talent, do the Royals really need another pitcher? When you think about, a lot of these guys I’ve mentioned (with the exception of Samardzija and probably Shields) wouldn’t even start during the postseason. They could still be long relievers out of the bullpen, but still.
Looking at the current rotation, Guthrie would easily be the odd man out leaving Johnny Cueto, Danny Duffy, Yordano Ventura, and Edinson Volquez as the four starters throughout the playoffs. This might not seem like a terrifying rotation to opponents, but I think most Royals fans would feel confident with Cueto as the one starter, Volquez as the two, and then Duffy or Ventura rounding out depending on who looks better near the end of the season.
It’s certainly an interesting thought on if the Kansas City Royals should acquire another pitcher, but for the time being, it looks like they might be good enough to make another October run.
It should be a fun end to the season Royals fans.
