The Kansas City Royals have had a lot of obstacles to climb early on this season whether it be an injury or a suspension, but the boys in blue have managed to overcome them for the most part. Despite the inevitable wrinkles thrown their way, these five guys have stood out as the Most Valuable Players of the Royals.

  • Edinson Volquez was a key free agent pick-up this off season due to his ability to go on the mound on his set start date and straight up deal daggers.

Mike Moustakas hit the ground running and has been a workhorse this season. This guy went from being sent down to Omaha in May 2014, to becoming one of the consistent hitters for the Royals in 2015. It’s been pretty cool, perhaps confusing, to watch.

Wade Davis is just Wade Davis. He has 0.24 ERA and may or may not allow a home run in the next year or two.

Salvador Perez still swings at everything, but it’s paid off this season. Salvy has belted 14 home runs out of the park while showing the ability to handle the many personalities that a pitching staff presents.

Lorenzo Cain has been the most valuable player on this team. Whether it be a run-scoring hit or defensive thievery, Cain does it all. He absolutely deserves his first All-Star Game bid and will deserve that Gold Glove he’ll win in a few months.
