KC Royals: Who Else Will Make The All-Star Team

The KC Royals saw four of their guys voted into the MLB All-Star Game starting roster on Sunday evening. This was just the starting line-up though. The Royals could very well see more players taking part in the game when the pitchers and reserves are announced on Monday evening.

The four members of the Kansas City Royals who will be starting in the All-Star Game for the American League team are Lorenzo Cain, Alcides Escobar, Alex Gordon, and Salvador Perez. All of these guys rightfully deserve to be voted into the game, and Royals fans did an excellent job at making sure their boys in blue made it into the big game.

As for the rest of the American League team, Jose Altuve did indeed pass Omar Infante. Infante getting voted in by the fans was the only way he’d be participating in the game. I would imagine Jason Kipnis will get the reserve spot behind Altuve.

Eric Hosmer could end up receiving a reserve spot, but I don’t think he’ll be a starter. In fact, I don’t think Hosmer would have gotten to play at all had Miguel Cabrera not just gone on the disabled list this week. I think Prince Fielder will likely get the nod to start at first base due to Texas needing someone to participate. Fielder could also be the reserve backup at DH, which is where he was listed on the player ballot.

I could see Mike Moustakas as a reserve at third base, but Manny Machado of Baltimore is an option as well. Josh Donaldson rightfully deserves to start the game and he passed Moose (and set voting records) in the recent revealing of votes.

As for who absolutely deserves a bid no matter what, Wade Davis is the obvious answer. With Ned Yost being able to pick a few more guys, I can’t imagine Davis not getting to be apart of the American League team.

Here are some guys who deserve to make it into the All-Star Game (keep in mind that every team must have a representative, which went into some of my choices):

Pitcher wise, I expect to see Wade Davis out there. In order to represent every team, Chris Sale of the White Sox is likely a lock, as is Chris Archer of the Rays. Sonny Gray and Scott Kazmir of the Athletics both are deserving to go. Koji Uehera could represent the Red Sox. David Price is also an option for the Detroit Tigers. In my likely wrong scenario, every team has a representative, and all are actually decent players.

All-Star Game pitchers and reserves will be announced on Monday evening.
