  • While the move appears to be keeping Christian Colon playing and getting more at-bats, it’s interesting that Dusty Coleman was brought up instead. Colon wasn’t looking terrible at the plate, but the fact that Omar Infante hasn’t been a stellar batter and Colon still hasn’t gotten a chance to start much isn’t reassuring.

In other news, the Kansas City Royals entered Friday night’s affair in the midst of a four-game losing streak and looked for Jeremy Guthrie to pitch a lights out game to get them back on track. Guthrie looked nearly flawless, pitching 7.1 innings and throwing over 100 pitches, but left the game behind 2-1.

The Royals ended up tying things up and later won in the tenth inning off a Jarrod Dyson walk off hit to score Lorenzo Cain (which the Twins challenged him being safe at home plate).

Dusty Coleman made his MLB debut on Friday night, and it wasn’t pretty. He was put into the game in the bottom of the ninth inning to pinch run for Salvador Perez and ended up freezing dead in his tracks after Mike Moustakas hit the second out to an outfielder. Coleman then was caught in a run-down and tagged out to end the inning.

The KC Royals pulled out the win though and in dramatic fashion nonetheless. Jarrod Dyson had the walk off hit to score Lorenzo Cain in the bottom of the tenth inning. The Kansas City Royals now sit 13 games over .500 and hold a 3.5 lead over the Twins in the American League Central.

KC Royals Look For Infield Offense, Call Up Dusty Coleman [Kings of Kauffman]

"Twenty-six year old Christian Colon had started the season with a solid .286 batting average, but is caught in a 3 for 22 slump. While the 28-year-old Dusty Coleman has hit an excellent (for a middle infielder) .303/.383/.469 across AA NW Arkansas and AAA Omaha this season, he also has lost his stroke with a 2 for 17 slide in recent games."

"Before tonight, the Kansas City Royals had not had a walkoff victory this season. Tonight, they managed to break that streak on their second attempt, downing the Minnesota Twins 3-2 in extra innings."

Royals Rumors: Royals Should Not Trade For Johnny Cueto [KC Kingdom]

"Since 2011, he’s held an ERA under 3.00 at the close of each season, and he finished last season with 20 wins and 242 strikeouts, finishing in the top five in each category. He’s on the final year of his contract and has so far in 2015 been very good, but not quite great."
