KC Chiefs News: Tight Ends In The Spotlight

facebooktwitterreddit

KC Chiefs news at this point in the year could be anything. Right now there is all kinds of speculation regarding new players, veterans and even players that may or may not be a good fit if they were to sign with the Chiefs.

The tight end position is making some waves with the KC Chiefs this week. Travis Kelce is obviously the No. 1 option, but where do the Chiefs go for second and third options?

Former Tampa Bay and New England tight end Tim Wright has been floated as an option, and Kansas City drafted Illinois State’s James O’Shaughnessy who could see ample playing time during his rookie season.

Even though that position has some questions marks, it certainly seems like the offense is falling in to place with a Pro Bowl running back, smart, game-managing quarterback, a somewhat improved offensive line and added talent at the wide receiver position.

Here’s what’s going on around Fansided.com.

Alex Smith Will Lead Winning Offense [KC Kingdom]

"The KC Chiefs are considered favorites to win the AFC West in 2015 behind quarterback Alex Smith in his third year as a Chief. This isn’t just by me (and believe me, I’m not typically biased on this), but by many NFL analysts out there in NFL land. The reason why the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t been able to win the division since 2010 is due to the offense not doing its fair share of the work load."

  • "The Kansas City Chiefs are a bit thin at the tight end position on paper. Starter Travis Kelce is a man among boys, but what happens after him? Currently, second-stringer Demetrius Harris is recovering from foot surgery, leaving rookie fifth-round pick James O’Shaughnessy as the lone safety net."

Who Is The Chiefs Third-Best Player [Arrowhead Addict]

"It’s an interesting question. The Kansas City Chiefs have two players that stand above the rest on the roster, with Jamaal Charles and Justin Houston reigning in the potentially all-time great category. Charles has a shot at the Hall of Fame with a few more great years while Houston is on a historic pace after recording 22 sacks in 2014."

After Kelce, What Is The Chiefs Tight End Plan [Arrowhead Pride]

"Now, we’ve got the clear starter and star of the group in Kelce. He’s going to play the vast majority of the offensive snaps, because Andy Reid isn’t stupid. He’s a game changer at the position and a treat to watch play."

Travis Kelce And The Scary Floor At Tight End For The Chiefs [Arrowhead Pride]

"However, there’s another position that’s woefully thin that no one seems to mind too much: tight end. While the Chiefs boast one of the league’s top young tight ends who has yet to reach his ceiling, it’s also quite clear that the floor is very, very low when it comes to the overall depth chart."
